Dimension Driven

If you need to modify the size of a certain object, do you need to change the object again, and then re-dimension?
Is it possible to make the object change with the modified dimension?

This dimension driven function is really achievable.

Dimension Driven #

  • Click menu “Annotate/Dimension Driven”, or command enter : “DIMDRIVER”or”DIMDR”
  • Specify the dimension
  • Input new dimesion length, such as 20, and then press enter
  • Box select the entities that you want to change
Before Driving
Select the dimension, enter a new size value of 20, then box select the part that needs to be driven
Object is automatically modified, and dimension are automatically updated

Notes:
Before using the dimension driven function, confirm the relationship between the objects, it can prevent confusion in the modification.

Dimension Symmetrical Driven #

  • Click menu “Annotate/Dimension Symmetrical Driven”, or command enter : “DIMSYMDRIVER” or “DIMSDR”
  • Specify the dimension
  • Input new dimesion length, such as 15, and then press enter
  • Specify first point/second point of the symetrical line (Specify the axis of symmetry)
  • Box select the entities that you want to change
Before Driving, original diameter as 10
Specify the axis of symmetry
Box select the part that needs to be driven
Object is automatically modified, and new diameter as 15

Notes:

When using the dimension driven function, you must accurately grasp the box selection area, otherwise, it is easy to cause confusion in the modification part.
